The impact of the desktop computer on rheumatologist-patient consultations

摘要: This study examined the impact of computers on rheumatologist–patient communication. Fifteen consultations were videotaped and analysed qualitatively. Patients routinely ceased their reporting a particular topic when rheumatologist's body gaze reoriented toward computer. Rheumatologists employed computer to direct consultation, whilst patients took advantage spaces in consultation created by physician's use continue talking, often involving extended pain reporting. These findings are discussed relation potential consultation.
