摘要: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a clinically approved cancer therapy, based on photochemical reaction between light activatable molecule or photosensitizer, light, and molecular oxygen. When these three harmless components are present together, reactive oxygen species formed. These can directly damage cells and/or vasculature, induce inflammatory immune responses. PDT two-stage procedure, which starts with photosensitizer administration followed by locally directed exposure, the aim of confined tumor destruction. Since its regulatory approval, over 30 years ago, has been subject numerous studies proven to be an effective form therapy. This review provides overview clinical trials conducted last 10 years, illustrating how applied in clinic today. Furthermore, examples from ongoing most recent preclinical presented, show directions, headed, near distant future. Despite success reported, still currently underutilized clinic. We also discuss factors that hamper exploration this what should changed render it more widely available option for patients.
