The "4-hour target": emergency nurses' views.

摘要: Objective: To explore nurses’ views and to identify the perceived advantages disadvantages of “4-hour target” Methods: The study was based in one emergency department (ED) UK took a generic qualitative approach. A stratified sample nine experienced ED nurses were recruited for semi-structured interviews. Data analysed using framework analysis1,2 Results: 4-hour target considered an overall success reducing waiting times increasing patient satisfaction. However, staff expressed concerns over imposed nature target, workload pressures, quality care, level support from secondary primary care. Conclusion: Although deemed success, there reservations as target’s sustainability. Recommendations are made improved communication between care establishing shared goal within hospital environment.
