On the effect of magnetic field gradient on the discharge characteristics of Hall thrusters

摘要: An experiment was performed to investigate how the magnetic field gradient in strong zone affects discharge processes of Hall thrusters,such as ionization and acceleration propellants,for further research on optimal design theory channels thrusters.The results show that strength has little effect propellants within designed range gradient,but significant influence ions.With increase gradient,the ion-beam energy distribution tends be concentrated,and thrust efficiency rise.Finally,further may lead a series physical problems,among whith such finite Larmor radius effect,the changes law electronic conduction mechanism,and drift are analyzed.
