摘要: The aim of this review is to extend present concepts body composition and integrate it into physiology. In vivo analysis (BCA) has a sound theoretical methodological basis. Present methods used for BCA are reliable valid. Individual data on components, organs tissues included different models, e.g. 2-, 3-, 4- or multi-component model. Today the so-called 4-compartment model as well whole MRI (or computed tomography) scans considered gold standards BCA. practice use appropriate method depends question interest accuracy needed address it. Body descriptive normative analyses (e.g. generating normal values, centiles cut offs). Advanced models go beyond description approaches. concept functional (FBC) takes account relationships between individual related metabolic physical functions. FBC can be further extended healthy (HBC) based horizontal (i.e. structural) vertical metabolism its neuroendocrine control) components component functions using mathematical modelling with hierarchical multi-level multi-scale approach at software level. HBC integrates systems cardiovascular, respiratory, hepatic renal To conclude prerequisite detailed phenotyping individuals providing basis in depth biomedical research clinical decision making.
