Fatigue and fretting of self-piercing riveted joints

摘要: The fatigue life and fretting characteristics of aluminum alloy 5754-O self-piercing riveted lap joints have been investigated experimentally analytically. experimental program involves a set 27 cyclic tension tests on three different consisting either 1 mm, 2 mm or 3 mm-thick sheet specimens. In most cases (85%), cracks are found to initiate the faying surface upper sheet, adjacent hole, at an angular location that lies loading axis towards end. Three-dimensional finite element analysis has also performed. Computed distributions local stresses rivet-sheet slips interpreted in terms observations life, crack initiation damage observations.
