摘要: Preliminary taphonomic investigations were carried out at the site of Wadi Zarqa Ma'in 1 (WZM-1), 31o37'N, 35o43'E, approximately 730 m above mean sea level and 10 km south-southwest Madaba, Hashemite Kingdom Jordan. This large, open sinkhole is a natural faunal trap raptor roosting site, accumulating significant remains within deposits likely reaching well into Pleistocene. The Minimum Number Individuals (MNI) identified megafauna microfauna totals 629, with minimum 30 taxa represented. Nine actual or potential vectors introduction identified, including prey raptors, mortality inhabitants, accidental falling, deliberate dead animals by humans. Roosting raptors include barn owl (Tyto alba), which yielded majority species diversity total MNI. offers unique opportunity to collect data on on-going function prolific in semi-arid Near East environment, multiple considerations can be drawn from it for analysis both its own those similar karst features.
