摘要: The second author interviewed 16 male and female undergraduates, inviting them to disclose information about themselves on a series of 10 high-intimacy topics presented in an individually randomized order. Subjects were assigned one four treatments defined by the possible combinations, over two five-topic blocks, disclosure or non-disclosure part interviewer. (Interviewer topic immediately preceded corresponding subject.) Two judges (one whom was author) independently rated audiotape recordings interviewees' presentations for modelling content. Interviewee strongly facilitated interviewer, but sustained at high level only if interviewer continued disclose. Deep disclosures interviewees showed somewhat greater originality content than more shallow disclosures. These results suggested that facilitating effect interviewer's best interpreted terms social exchange theory rather response disinhibition discriminative cueing terms. However, subjects no clear preference disclosing For given levels their interview reactions less favourable they had disclosed, suggesting ‘dispensation’ self-disclosure costly. Sensitizing apt repressing have reactions.
