摘要: Dead wood provides a huge terrestrial carbon stock and habitat to wide-ranging organisms during its decay. Our brief review highlights that, in order understand environmental change impacts on these functions, we need quantify the contributions of different interacting biotic abiotic drivers decomposition. LOGLIFE is new long-term ‘common-garden’ experiment disentangle effects species’ traits site-related decomposition dynamics associated diversity microbial invertebrate communities. This firmly rooted pioneering experiments under directorship Terry Callaghan at Abisko Research Station, Sweden. features two contrasting forest sites Netherlands, each hosting similar set coarse logs branches 10 tree species. welcomes other researchers test further questions concerning decay that will also help optimise management view sequestration biodiversity conservation.
