摘要: Chronic diseases compromise the life of sufferer, encumber their families, and exert intractable burdens on health-care system. With aging population, such conditions have become primary determinants morbidity mortality leading cause disability in our society. Despite serious challenges they impose, ethical discourse engendered by them has lagged behind that acute care medicine. Of particular relevance are to individual autonomy, as dilemmas arising chronic setting not only medical but personal societal dimensions, may require input multiple participants, resolve over longer periods time. As such, conventional model autonomy is often inadequate address problems setting. This paper deals with this dilemma through an examination a clinical scenario. A framework for exploration thus presented.
