Intervening in primary care against childhood bullying: an increasingly pressing public health need

摘要: Childhood bullying is a major risk factor for physical and mental health, educational attainment social relationships. Epidemiological evidence has highlighted that its adverse consequences continue into adulthood leading to substantial health wider societal costs. With the advent of cyber bullying, childhood increasingly pervasive. Children can now be reached subjected systematic peer abuse at all times. Given limited impact school-based initiatives, there increasing interest in developing role primary care services support early identification response but evidence-based interventions are lacking. This paper considers scale health-related bullying. It argues need greater awareness responsiveness as part community-wide, integrated approach stemming harmful effects. Primary well-placed identify affected children, provide children their parents help improve coping skills mitigate effects where necessary making referrals appropriate agencies associated problems. However, guidance on how best achieve this lacking. Effective delivered intervene minimise being bullied needed, suggests number research questions addressed.
