Numerical simulation of laser beam interaction with a liquid crystal medium in a miniature fiber-optical system

摘要: Laser beam propagation through an integrated fiber-optical system including a miniature cavity filled with liquid crystal (LC) is numerically simulated. Two different shapes of the are considered: transverse cylindrical hole and gap between parallel end faces optical fiber. In both cases, director field distribution in LC volume includes linear singularity (disclination). The Maxwell equations for anisotropic continuous medium solved by FDTD method.
