摘要: Objectives : To report our experience, surgical results and com plications of transurethral resection prostate for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods: This is a retrospective study 162 patients who u nderwent hyperplasia between January 2007 nd 2008 at Prince Hussein Ben Abdullah Urology Center. The indications, the occurrence various complications were stu died from retrieved clinical records. Results: Seventy-one (43.8%) underwent elective t ransurethral significant lower urinary tract symptoms. Fifty (30.9 %) had because recurrent urine retenti on that failed trial without catheter. ot her infection (4.3%), hematuria origin (6.8%), ren al impairment (6.2%) or bladder stone (8.0%). Seven (4.3%) developed p ostoperatively. Secondary hemorrhage within four weeks postoperatively in three (1.8 . Six urge incontinence. Urethra l stricture occurred two (1.2%) one atient neck contracture. One pati ent perforation. Only patient (0.6%) suffer ed syndrome this st udy. required blood transfusion du ring after surgery. No episodes immediate postoperative sepsis encountered. There was no mortality. Conclusion: Transurethral considered s afe with low associated morbidity rate. Accordingly, prostat e remains ‘gold standard’ treatment its complications.
