Evidence of spotted fever group rickettsiae in state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

摘要: Ticks were obtained from dogs February to September of 1999 at weekly intervals, in the County Pirai, State Rio de Janeiro. Four hundred seventy four ixodids taxonomically identified, 103 Amblyomma cajennense, seven ovale, 209 Rhipicephalus sanguineus, and 155 sp. An hemolymph test associated with Giemsa's stain revealed two specimens 163 ticks tested (R. sanguineus sp), containing rickettsia-like organisms. Direct immunofluorescence verified presence spotted fever group rickettsia one specimen R. sanguineus. Considering limited information on rickettsiosis Brazil, principally relation vectors involved perpetuating it foci, these preliminary results give us an idea importance infection ticks, allowing expand our knowledge this zoonosis.
