摘要: Following the introduction of roach, Rutilus rutilus, to a large eutrophic lake in ca. 1973, subsequent increase abundance this cyprinid through 1970s was accompanied by decline numbers one lake&s most abundant overwintering waterfowl, tufted duck, Aythya fuligula, and an piscivorous great crested grebes, Podiceps cristatus. We suggest that these contrasting trends are causally related competition for benthos increased prey availability mechanisms responsible changes duck grebe populations respectively. In agreement with hypotheses, reduction roach population during mid 1980s recovery ducks grebes.
