摘要: In Atlantic Canada, as in rural areas around the world, many citizens are engaged ways to adapt innovative local level solutions challenges posed by globalized industrial agriculture. To prevent further unraveling of community fabric and promote resilience, there is a shift some Canadian communities towards what Thomas Lyson terms civic agriculture (2004). Using conceptual framework, this in-depth case study found strong Tatamagouche farmers who tend operate on small, labour-intensive scale, value direct links with consumers. This paper investigates initiatives using narrative past socio-agricultural transition understand present-day opportunities realizing locally organized system food production distribution. Specific policy recommendations based study's findings include: integration mentorship experiential learning into agricultural education; strategic planning province for domestic consumption increases through existing buy-local campaigns consumer education programmes; review regulatory standards accommodate small-scale diversified family farms; start-up aid community-scale cooperatives. Additionally, calls broader philosophies that shape current choices recommends reframing mandate governmental departments like Health Environment address community-based agriculture, advocating political recognition non-commodity benefits agriculture.
