摘要: Average total Hg concentrations measured in fish muscle from species commercialized the Fortaleza Market,  CE, Brazil varied 14 to 509 ng.g -1 wet weight. Lowest occurred small omnivorous and  highest large carnivorous species, particular sharks. The largest individuals (>110 cm length) of piscivorous  species Scomberomorus cavalla showed up 1,737 , although average concentration for  this was much lower (352 ). With exception  S.  largest individuals, all presented  Hg below Brazilian legal limits human consumption. Hazard quotients (HQ) estimated using  local consumption rate observed 0.015 based on  0.551 All HQ 0.148 most consumed only  slightly higher (0.155). Both HQs suggest insignificant exposure risk consumers.
