摘要: The increase in adiposity problems among United States adolescents has been accompanied by persistently high prevalence of unhealthy dieting behaviours (UDBs) such as fasting, taking diet pills/powders/liquids, and vomiting/taking laxatives. This study aimed to examine the associations self-perceptions weight status, change intentions (WCIs) UDBs with sex, age race, well trends American across spectrum. Data come from biennial cross-sectional, school-based surveys, Youth Risk Behaviour Surveillance System (1999–2013, n = 113,542). outcome measures were self-reported UDBs: fasting for 24 h or more; pills/powders/liquids; Sex-stratified logistic regressions assessed relationships between status misperceptions all statuses, race WCIs UDBs. Differential races using race*year interaction terms. In males, non-White had higher odds laxatives than Whites (except Hispanic/Latinos), Adjusted Odds Ratios (AORs) 1.44 2.07. females, Black/African Americans Hispanic/Latinos lower pills/powders/liquids compared (AORs 0.50 0.78 respectively). Racial disparities persisted throughout period. Prevalence did not 1999 2013 races, while decreased. Compared individuals normal who accurate perceivers, almost other combinations perception significantly displaying any UDB outcome. Overestimation was found be strongest determinant endorsing "not wanting do anything" about their weight, (including gain weight) also showed every outcome, lose having AORs greatest magnitudes. is high, highest females racial groups. may elevate undesired loss are obese/overweight underweight respectively.
