摘要: The objective of this chapter is to review, distill and systematise some the major empirical findings on consumption patterns, concentrating in particular more recent (and, cases, controversial) evidence. We start by using price-quantity data for OECD introduce indexes patterns. Then follows a discussion Engel’s law (and its modern extension) evidence homogeneity symmetry. Later parts deal with preference independence, issue constancy tastes aspects functional form demand equations. Most deals results from time-series/cross-country data. This draws Clements S. Selvanathan (1994).
