摘要: The increasing demand for capacity has driven the telecommunications community to focus on transmission studies with higher data rates and spectral efficiency. However, high SE are particularly challenging transoceanic cable systems due their extremely long distances. With advent of digital coherent receivers, channel rate increased from 40 Gb/s 100 Gb/s beyond; efficiency 80% (0.8 bits/s/Hz) most recent 600% (6 bits/s/Hz); total 6 Tb/s 30 Tb/s. This chapter gives an overview advances in undersea technology since last edition Optical Fiber Telecommunications 2007 focusing transmission.
