摘要: The crack rail shear (CRS) specimen is a proposed test method to characterize the Mode III interlaminar fracture toughness of continuous-fiber-reinforced composite materials. utilizes two-rail fixture, and contains embedded Kapton film placed symmetrically about midplane provide starter cracks for subsequent characterization. Otherwise, length width are identical ASTM geometry. An analytical expression strain energy release rate developed based on strength materials approach. model illustrates important material geometric parameters test, provides simple data reduction scheme experiments. A quasi three-dimensional, linear elastic finite element code, CCMQ3D, employed verify pure state determine admissible lengths. Deformation shows that only out-of-plane displacement non-zero, indicating does indeed exist within constraints Q3D assumption. Compliance predictions in good agreement with over range lengths, 0·15
