摘要: Over the last several decades, research with small telescopes has contributed significantly to cosmology. We tell story of one continuing endeavor, study large-scale structure Universe. In 20th century, LSS studies started 2D surveys done on patrol cameras, moved large Schmidt and then 3D redshift all sizes. Modern programs such as 2dF, Sloan 2MASS are still based catalogs made “small” telescopes, 1.2- 2.5-m in diameter. The definition is changing, however, but 1- 2-m class fill a niche for innovative important projects, even cosmology, thus have place national infrastructure astronomy.
