摘要: Six bridges classified as ordinary in the Seismic Design Criteria (SDC) by Caltrans are designed according to that criteria and also using Direct Displacement Based (DDBD) method. The include two types of substructures, symmetric asymmetric configurations plan curvature. performance each resulting structures is evaluated performing nonlinear time history analysis. This work aims (1) compare effectiveness DDBD SDC design a sample six (2) investigate items needed for improvement current DBD practice emphasizing determination displacement demand, capacity soil-structure interaction effects. Special attention put on demand an alternative procedure proposed based Substitute Structure Method (SSM). Also, existing target ductility limits reviewed considering P-Delta effects column bents rigid foundations drilled shafts bents.
