摘要: Stormwater management, as part of urban infrastructure, is generally lacking or inadequate in informal settlements. Residents and community groups settlements often take local initiatives, with without external assistance, aimed at supplying the lack infrastructure. Utilising a qualitative research strategy, this study considers self-help community-based initiatives to cope manage stormwater settlements, through case Slovo Park settlement Johannesburg, South Africa. The shows that household/stand-based strategies are minimally effective technically. Community-based forming drive catalyse situ upgrading, although challenged by limitations, imbued potential. Enabling environment appropriate buy-in from state relevant non-state agencies necessary exploit potential inherent approach.
