摘要: From the Publisher: Cyberspace not only exemplifies but spearheads greater political economy of which it has become such a critical part. The networks that comprise cyberspace were originally created at behest government agencies, military contractors, and allied educational institutions. However, over past generation or so, growing number these began to serve primarily corporate users. Under sway an expansionary market logic, Internet political-economic transition toward what Dan Schiller calls "digital capitalism." Schiller traces metamorphoses through three critically important interlinked realms. Parts I II deal with overwhelmingly "neoliberal" market-driven policies influence govern telecommunications system their empowerment transnational corporations while same time exacerbating exisiting social inequalities.
