摘要: Abstract The growth of cells Escherichia coli has been studied in media with varying amounts magnesium. Experiments which the content magnesium medium and cell have directly measured reveal that rate magnesium-limited wild type is half-maximal at extracellular concentrations 1 to 3 x 10-6 m. Mutants isolated require 100 times this concentration for growth. Supplementation calcium or strontium enables mutants grow on same low levels as even though cannot replace an essential factor.
