摘要: Although the mammillary bodies were one of first neural structures to be implicated in memory, it has long been assumed that their main function was act primarily as a hippocampal relay, passing information on anterior thalamic nuclei and from there cingulate cortex. This view not only afforded no independent role also neglected potential significance other, nonhippocampal, inputs bodies. Recent advances have transformed picture, revealing projections tegmental Gudden, formation, are critical for sustaining body function. By uncovering is its subicular inputs, this work signals need consider wider network form bases episodic memory.
