摘要: This paper critiques contemporary research and policy approaches taken toward the analysis abatement of mercury pollution in small-scale gold mining sector. Unmonitored releases from amalgamation have caused considerable environmental contamination human health complications rural reaches sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America Asia. Whilst these problems caught attention scientific community over past 15-20 years, that has since been undertaken failed to identify appropriate mitigation measures, done little advance understanding why persists. Moreover, strategies used educate operators about impacts acute exposure, technologies implemented prevent further pollution, marginally effective at best. The problem will not be resolved until governments donor agencies commit carrying out aimed improving dynamics small scale communities. Acquisition this knowledge is key designing implementing support measures.
