摘要: Periostin, also termed osteoblast-specific factor 2, is a matricellular protein with known functions in osteology, tissue repair, oncology, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, various inflammatory settings. However, most of the research to date has been conducted divergent circumscribed areas meaning that overall understanding this intriguing molecule remains fragmented. Here, we integrate available evidence on periostin expression, its normal role development, whether it plays similar function during pathologic regeneration, disease order bring together different fields which investigations are ongoing. In spite seemingly disparate roles health disease, remodeling as response insult/injury emerging common functional denominator molecule. Periostin transiently upregulated cell fate changes, either physiologic or pathologic. Combining observations from conditions, pattern events can be suggested, including localization insult injury, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, extracellular matrix restructuring, remodeling. We propose mesenchymal an overarching for periostin, across physiology disease. may seen important structural mediator, balancing appropriate versus inappropriate adaption insult/injury.
