Mechanistic studies of oxygen reduction on Fe-PEI derived non-PGM electrocatalysts

摘要: Abstract Mechanistic studies of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) on electrocatalysts derived from the pyrolysis iron salts and polyethyleneimine (PEI) were performed in acidic alkaline media. The prepared materials have been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area analysis, rotating ring-disk electrode (RRDE) methods. Systematic catalyst loading working allowed establishing a range suitable for mechanistic studies. It was found that overall mechanism ORR acid electrolyte is not identical with media indicating complex interplay. dependence transfer numbers indicates 2 × 2e − mechanism. analysis Tafel plots corresponding to polarizations demonstrated difference rate limiting steps
