摘要: Background Vitamin A and its derivatives, the retinoids, are essential for normal embryonic development maintenance of cell differentiation. β, β-carotene 15,15'-monooxygenase 1 (BCMO1) catalyzes central cleavage to all-trans retinal is key enzyme in intestinal metabolism carotenes vitamin A. However, human various rodent species show markedly different efficiencies BCMO1-mediated carotene retinoid conversion. The aim this study identify potentially human-specific regulatory control mechanisms BCMO1 gene expression.
