摘要: The last decade has witnessed the proliferation of socio-environmental conflicts across Chile, characterized by resistance local communities against extractive and industrial projects. Increasingly, these have revealed multiple injustices experienced living in sacrifice zones. A zone can be defined as a segregated place where quality life its is compromised name progress capital accumulation. By focusing on struggles taking Quintero-Puchuncavi Bay, Coronel Hualpen-Talcahuano three highly polluted industrialized areas this article explores views practices developed grassroots activists their quest for resisting moving beyond capitalist extractivist model development. conducting thematic analysis semi-structured interviews with 32 activists, qualitative study provides detailed account how they understand resist areas. Furthermore, it describes alternatives to development envisioned enacted movements, expanding notions territorial sovereignty “buen vivir”.
