摘要: Although a great deal of attention has been paid to the role people's own investment in promoting relationship commitment, less research considered possible partner's investments. An experiment (Study 1) and two combined daily experience longitudinal studies (Studies 2 3) documented that perceived investments from one partner motivate other further commit relationship. All three provided support for gratitude as mechanism this effect. These effects held even individuals who were relatively satisfied with their relationships. Together, these results suggest people feel particularly grateful partners they perceive have invested into relationship, which, turn, motivates them Implications theory on commitment are discussed.
