摘要: Detailed meteorological measurements are used, together with fine-scale of the density structure in a reservoir, to show that differential deepening diurnal mixed layer may occur as result horizontal spatial variability wind stress. In study, one-dimensional integral model is used simulate energetics mixed-layer deepening. A simple algorithm temperature changes due advection incorporated into model. The simulation shows that, during study period, shear production was major source turbulent kinetic energy for deepening, but duration sufficiently short so depth closely reflected local stress, even though Wedderburn number near unity. gradients set up by increased exposed region reservoir resulted flow driven gravity, typical overflow velocities approximately 0·02 m s-1.
