摘要: Objective This study aimed to clarify the relationship between ɛ4 allele and late-life depression, taking into account lipid profile, vascular diseases, sociodemographics. Methods Using a multilevel stratified random sampling strategy, total of 500 subjects aged 65 74 years were recruited for this cross-sectional from official household records an entire county in southern Taiwan. Depressive symptoms assessed by Taiwanese Depression Questionnaire (TDQ). Cognitive function was Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire. Blood samples collected determination apolipoprotein E (ApoE) polymorphism profile. Results A 283 (58.7% male, with mean age 69.2 ± 2.7 years) completed all questionnaires collection blood samples. χ 2 test, overall difference frequency presence significant among severe group (TDQ score >18), moderate 9–18), mild Conclusion The ApoE may be correlated depression elderly through ways other than "vascular depression" hypothesis.
