摘要: Study Objectives: To measure the effects of a titratable anterior mandibular repositioner on airway size and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) to evaluate its compliance. Design: Before after insertion sleep studies were obtained in total 38 OSA patients varying severity from three different sites. Covert compliance was measured by means newly-developed, miniaturized, temperature-sensitive, imbedded monitor. Validity testing completed six adult volunteers who wore monitors into small acrylic appliances. Measurements Results: The mean RDI before treatment 32.6 (SEM 2.1) appliance, reduced 12.1 1.7, p 30) with respect baseline RDI. Fiber optic video endoscopy performed 9 without appliance. No significant differences hypopharynx or oropharynx cross sectional areas found, but at level velopharynx, significantly increased (p<0.05). index agreement 0.99 between monitor clock time subject's log sheets. Compliance data eight subjects instructed wear appliance during indicated that it worn for 6.8 hours range 5.6 7.5 per night. Conclusion: adjustable advancement made thermoelastic acrylic, reduces moderate severe patients, has direct effect is well throughout
