摘要: The tensile response of oriented polyethylene and polystyrene films provides material data for the modelling closed-cell polymer foams. We analyse a Kelvin foam, with 60% in cell faces, compressed [001] direction. Cell edges bend compress axially, while faces act as membranes. strains across some face diagonals are 40% foam compressive strain, so yielding can occur. predicted Young’s moduli slightly low, because stresses ignored, but Poisson’s ratio is correctly predicted. yield foams close to experiment. Polystyrene extruded may collapse compression when commences.
