摘要: We assessed the extent of temporal variation and autocorrelation in fish habitat use based on an experimental study individual 0+ juvenile barbel, Barbus barbus, artificial flume. Five treated five control were individually subjected to increase discharge (intervention) halfway through each experiment kept at baseline throughout, respectively. Preference curves for velocity generated 60 trials per combination treated/control (fish) x before/after-intervention. There large between- within-individual differences preference, both fish. Most barbel explored entire range velocities, whereas some individuals used a more limited range. Temporal behavioural responses was by PCA-based methodology. Autocorrelation (i.e. correlation between sequential trials) diagnosed most response profiles, supporting recent findings that may have 'memory' their past usage. The relevance results numerical models assessment is discussed, as well importance incorporating variability into (e.g. PHABSIM), not only ontogenetic intervals but also longitudinal data behaviours. A warning re-issued about erroneous belief of'pseudoreplication' simply arising from repeated measurements time.
