In the last 10 years, there has been concerted effort in USA globally to develop implement educational, medical interventions designed attenuate its growth. The success of these efforts was probably responsible for plateau prevalence rate childhood noted two years. While attenuation overall promising, data from same cohort reveal concerning upward trend number children with severe obesity. consequences can be devastating. When compared their moderately obese peers, are at greater risk adult obesity, early atherosclerosis, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, fatty liver disease premature death. determinants include lifestyle, environmental, familial societal factors reported overweight or all must screened for, genetic influences distinct considerations that may have bearing especially early-onset Treatments lifestyle intervention, specialised low-calorie diets bariatric surgery. Outcomes treatments vary, surgery clearly most successful three both short-term long-term weight loss.
