摘要: Background: This article examines the longterm impact of wartime captivity. Method: One hundred sixty-four prisoners war (POWs) and 189 matched combatants 1973 Yom Kippur War filled out a series questionnaires that assessed posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), general psychiatric symptomatology, social functioning according to DSM-III-R criteria. Results: Almost 2 decades after war, exPOWs exhibited higher rates greater intensity reactions, more severe problems in at home, work, military than did control group (Israeli veterans who were not POWs). They also likely obtain official disability recognition seek psychological help. Their recovery was slower professional help less effective. In addition, with PTSD both groups had high comorbid symptomatology. Conclusion: These findings point depth, range, persistence residuals
