摘要: Small-scale aerial photographs and high-resolution satellite images, available for Ethiopia since the second half of twentieth century as most countries, allow only length gullies to be determined. Understanding development gully volumes therefore requires that empirical relations between volume (V) (L) are established in field. So far, such V–L have been proposed a limited number gullies/environments were especially developed ephemeral gullies. In this study, permanent northern Ethiopia, having total 152 km. order take regional variability environmental characteristics into account, factors control cross-sectional morphology studied from 811 cross-sections. This indicated lithology presence check dams or low-active channels important controls shape size. Cross-sectional size could fairly well predicted by their drainage area. The relation complete dataset was V = 0 · 562 L 1·381 (n = 33, r2 = 0 · 94, with 34 · 9% network and/or being low-active). Producing different lithologies percentages allows historical remote sensing data assessed. addition, also related its catchments area (A) catchment slope gradient (Sc). study demonstrates V–A × Sc can very suitable planners assess volume, but establishment is necessarily region-specific.
