How to ‘count the cost’ and measure burden? A review of health-related quality of life in people with eating disorders

摘要: Background: Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) estimates are important for accurately estimating the individual and community burden from eating disorders cost-utility treatments. Aims: The aim was to conduct a systematic review in order evaluate compare attempts estimate HRQOL (EDs). Method: A MEDLINE database Quality Life Research Journal search conducted relevant English-language papers that used validated measures ED diagnostic symptoms. Results: Fifteen were identified which all supported EDs having substantial impact on individual's HRQOL, mental health domain, some studies remained when controlling body weight. Some indicated presence psychiatric co-morbidity increases ED. In one study, accounting prevalence, low relative mood disorders. Findings mixed participants with AN, possibly reflecting its ego-syntonic nature. Conclusions: An gap paucity large scale community-based studies. better “true” costs there is an urgent need such research, include control groups as well medically ill groups.
