摘要: Transcription, the synthesis of RNA from DNA, is first step in gene expression. It a multistep biochemical process. polymerase, enzyme that catalyzes transcription, locates and binds specific promoter sequence on template unwinds small region surrounding start site, initiates an chain, elongates chain to definite stop finally releases completed transcript dissociates itself DNA. polymerase composed battery distinct polypeptide subunits whose function requires accurate interaction not only with each other but also four ribonucleotide precursor molecules, emerging numerous ancillary influence one or more individual steps transcription. The overall chemical mechanism basic transcription process identical procaryotic eucaryotic organisms, certain features components apparatus conserved bacteria man. However, two types organisms differ protein proteins than they show identity. This diversity makes pathogenic ideal target for developing novel antibacterial drugs.
