摘要: Abstract A conventional light scattering study in the absence of any electric fields on aqueous solutions hectorite, indicated that solute particles were characterised by a weight average molecular 1.02 × 10 8 and Z radius gyration 1,800 A. The latter corresponded to rod length 6,300 appropriateness rod-like model was confirmed subsidiary experiments using an electron microscope. Changes intensity scattered result from application alternating fields. An component, which fluctuates at twice frequency applied field, is introduced. brief outline theory these effects given for rigid polar or electrically anisotropic molecules. When hectorite subjected up 200 v.cm −1 frequencies 1 keps, changes solution consisted possessing both permanent dipole moment across electrical anisotropy along equivalent rod. dependence steady components enabled rotary diffusion constants 165 sec 170 be associated with respectively. It thus concluded properties are one same particle consists major constituent not mixture.
