摘要: When a stimulated muscle is stretched fairly quickly during the active phase of contraction, it resists strongly and mechanical work must be done in stretching it. What happens to this work? If length which not too great no significant part remains as (elastic) energy after has relaxed. The total heat produced up end relaxation greater than would have been had performed on muscle, but excess small account for all done. It concluded that missing work, about half whole, absorbed, presumably chemical energy. stretch applied entirely phase, when activity over tension still present, whole reappears heat. view accepted absorbed synthesis, appears physical system responsible reversibly coupled, state, with providing necessary energy; coupling broken passes off. Other possible hypotheses, however, are discussed. application ordinary muscular movement referred to.
