摘要: Abstract Background and aims The possible role of galectin-3 in acute-on-chronic hepatitis B liver failure (ACHBLF) remains unknown. This study aimed to determine the methylation status promoter patients with ACHBLF analyze its prognostic value. Methods ACHBLF, chronic (CHB) healthy controls (HCs) was determined by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP). mRNA level peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) detected using real-time (RT-PCR). Results frequency significantly higher while lower than CHB HCs. Galectin-3 negatively correlated ACHBLF. In addition, carrying methylated showed shorter survival time, 3-month mortality, model for end-stage disease (MELD) score when compared unmethylated promoter. Moreover, a better predictor 3-week mortality MELD patients. Conclusion Our results suggest that hypermethylation might be an early biomarker predicting severity prognosis
