摘要: THUNDER technology introduces a versatile new family of rugged, robust, reliable piezoelectric actuators and sensors. Because their pre-stressed composite structure, these powerful yet lightweight devices exhibit unprecedented performance in durable, solid state package. Both sensors can be manufactured variety adaptable geometries - squares, rectangles disks from several millimeters to many centimeters size. Wide bandwidth achieved maintained even harsh chemical temperature environments. Based on an invention patented by NASA, is emerging, enabling that holds the promise significant advancements numerous 'smart' applications. Development applications for smart materials structures requires extensive characterization range configurations. This comprehensive effort especially challenging because extraordinary flexibility motion demonstrated devices, under load. paper will discuss important work ongoing program device characterization. The includes not only development process, but also design manufacture test measurement equipment necessary conduct meaningful testing unique, high devices. Results presented two configurations including circular rectangular model different sizes constructed varying materials. Data offered number key characteristics, displacement, block force, plus displacement vs. voltage force.
