摘要: Abstract This paper explores the hydrogen cycling properties of Mg/Cr and Mg/V multilayer thin films studies effect chromium vanadium transition metal catalysts on thick magnesium coatings. Two transition-metal catalysed magnesium-based PVD coatings are compared with a non-catalysed control sample. The (micro-)structural evolution film into fine, flakey powders is studied in-depth using XRD, SEM TEM storage all three materials assessed volumetric, gravimetric calorimetric methods focussing microstructure composition kinetics. It was found that chromium-catalysed coating had most favourable kinetics an activation energy for dehydrogenation reaction 65.7 ± 2.5 kJ mol −1 capacity 6.1 ± 0.3 wt%. mechanism samples CV JMAK kinetic models it catalyst material influenced not only but also reaction.
