Subject clitics and preverbal negation in European French: Variation, acquisition, diatopy and diachrony

摘要: This contribution aims to propose a corpus-based analysis of variation and acquisition subject clitics preverbal negation in European French within diglossic approach. The investigation collates previous new, contemporary diachronic, adult child data from France Belgium. results point an as agreement markers French. negative particle ne is eliminated the list arguments against morphological clitics, since utterances with display postverbal only. A strong correspondence between two characteristics, i.e. morpho-syntactic status (agreement vs. arguments) type (simple discontinuous), established supporting hypothesis on grammatical consistency pointing existence different grammars (labeled chronologically G1 G2). Diatopic inform us that seems hold throughout France, but diglossia does not appear apply (or at least applies differently) when reaching Belgian frontier. Finally, diachronic (17th–19th century) also interesting co-occurrence terms negation, invite further our understanding processing expletive clitics.
