摘要: There are a number of nitrate-containing wastewater sources, as concentrated 30 wt % NO/sub 3//sup -/ and large 2000 m/sup 3//d, in the nuclear fuel cycle well many commercial processes such fertilizer production, paper manufacturing, metal finishing. These sources can be successfully biologically denitrified to meet discharge standards range 10 20 gN(NO/sub -/)/m/sup 3/ by use fluidized-bed bioreactor. The major strain denitrification bacteria is Pseudomonas which was derived from garden soil. In bioreactor allowed attach 0.25 0.50-mm-diam coal particles, fluidized upward flow influent wastewater. Maintaining bacteria-to-coal weight ratio at approximately 1:10 results loading greater than 20,000 g/m/sup 3/. A description given two biodenitrification R D pilot plant programs based on bioreactors capable operating nitrate levels up 7000 achieving rates high 80 -/)/d per liter empty volume. first these consisted 0.2-m-diam bioreactors, each more » with height 6.3 m volume 208 liters, series. second used determine diameter dependence reactors using 0.5-m-diam reactor 1200 liters. plants operated for period six months respectively, while both synthetic waste actual gaseous diffusion Goodyear Atomic Corporation. « less
